Ocean Clean Up-pionier Peeters kijkt uit naar het bekijken van de beste ideeën van de wereld
Het Endowment for Clean Oceans (ECO) heeft aangekondigd dat Willemijn Peters, de Ocean Ambassador van Nederland en de oprichter van Searious Business, lid is geworden van het Ondernemerscomité van ECO, dat de plannen van de deelnemers om macro- en microplastic uit de wereldzeeën te verwijderen zal doorlichten.
“Ik ga eraan werken om het probleem op te lossen wat we met het plastic moeten doen als het eenmaal uit de oceaan is gehaald. Ik ga helpen om een markt te creëren voor het plastic dat uit de oceaan wordt teruggewonnen”, vertelt Peeters. “Net zoals we een einde moeten maken aan het gebruik van plastic voor eenmalig gebruik, moeten we de productie van plastic voor eenmalig gebruik vervangen door gerecycled plastic, en zoveel mogelijk plastic uit de oceaan terugwinnen.”

The Endowment for Clean Oceans (ECO) announced Willemijn Peeters, Ocean Ambassador of the Netherlands and the Founding Director of Searious Business has joined ECO’s Entrepreneur Committee that will vet contestants’ plans to remove macro and micro plastics from the world’s oceans.
“I am working to solve the problem of what to do with the plastic once it is removed from the ocean, by helping to create a market for plastic recovered from the ocean,” said Peeters. “Just like we need to end the use of single use plastic, we need to replace the manufacture of virgin plastic and replace it with recycled plastics, and as much as possible needs to be plastic recovered from the ocean.”
