SES vergroot overheidsdienstenportefeuille in Canada

LUXEMBURG–(BUSINESS WIRE)– SES S.A. heeft aangekondigd dat plaatselijke overheid van het Canadese Kativik SES een contract heeft gegund voor de levering van nieuwe satellietdiensten in het noorden van de regio Quebec.

De overeenkomst over 12 transponders aan boord van SES-2 op 87 graden westerlengte, die in de tweede helft van 2016 van kracht is, zorgt voor capaciteit voor C-bandcommunicatie voor meer dan 14 gemeenschappen en kan aan het einde van dit jaar het volume van de bandbreedte verdriedubbelen in de regio Nunavik. De overeenkomst is wat aantal transponders betreft de grootste gunning van de Canadese overheid in 2015.

Beginning in the second half of 2016, the 12 transponder deal on SES-2 positioned at 87 degrees West – and one of SES’s youngest satellites providing service to the Americas – will deliver critical C-band communications capability to more than 14 communities, and could triple the amount of bandwidth currently available across the Nunavik region by the end of this year. This was the largest government award in Canada in 2015 in terms of number of transponders.

Along with providing faster internet and other services to the Nunavik region, the agreement enables important connectivity for schools, hospitals, government buildings and other important facilities.
