Berkshire Hathaway Group breidt aanbod specialistische verzekeringen uit naar Europa, benoemt Tom Bolt en Gregor Köhler tot topmannen
BOSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Berkshire Hathaway International Insurance Limited heeft vandaag bekendgemaakt dat het Europa gespecialiseerde verzekeringen gaat aanbieden via zijn dochteronderneming Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI), afhankelijk van goedkeuring door regelgevende instanties. Tom Bolt is benoemd tot topman voor het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Zuid-Europa (per 1 juni). Gregor Köhler is per direct benoemd tot topman Noord-Europa. Bolt neemt ook de functie van ceo op zich en wordt evenals Köhler lid van de raad van bestuur van Berkshire Hathaway International Insurance Limited, afhankelijk van goedkeuring door regelgevend instanties.

BOSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Berkshire Hathaway International Insurance Limited (“BHIIL”) today announced that it will offer a specialty insurance solution to Europe with its affiliate, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (“BHSI”) (subject to regulatory approval), and named Tom Bolt as President, UK and Southern Europe, effective June 1, and Gregor Koehler as President, Northern Europe, effective immediately. Mr. Bolt will assume the role of CEO, and he and Mr. Koehler will also become members of the board of directors of Berkshire Hathaway International Insurance Limited, also subject to regulatory approval. “Establishing European capabilities is a natural next step in the maturation of BHSI, and an important milestone in growing our global footprint,” said Peter Eastwood, President and CEO, BHSI. “We are pleased to have the top-calibre talents of Tom and Gregor to lead the efforts to build a team in the UK and Europe.” Tom Bolt has extensive experience in insurance and reinsurance, spanning the UK, Europe, and the U.S. He was most recently Director of Performance Management at Lloyd’s. Before that, he was Managing Director of Marlborough Managing Agency and spent 25 years at the Berkshire Hathaway Group in a variety of senior executive roles, including Senior Vice President of the Reinsurance Division, and Managing Director of Tenecom and BHIIL. Mr. Bolt earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Northwestern University. He will be based in London. Mr. Koehler comes to the operation with 30 years of insurance and risk management experience. He was most recently President and CEO of Pallas Versicherung, AG, the global insurance division of Bayer Group. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President at Marsh Inc., and Managing Director, Corporate Risk Management and Insurance, at Bertelsmann AG, a global media and services company. He was also AVP and SVP of Corporate Risk Management and Insurance at Mannesmann AG (now Vodafone). He received his master’s in Business Administration from the University of Applied Science in Cologne, Germany.
