Digita: VVO Group the First Customer to Use Digita’s Nationwide IoT Network in Finland
HELSINKI–(BUSINESS WIRE)– VVO Group and the network operator Digita have agreed on the production phase of a property solution based on the Internet of Things provided by Digita. The production phase was preceded by a pilot launched in spring 2016 that tested the collection and utilisation of temperature and humidity data from apartments using Digita’s IoT solution. The aim was to use the data to adjust the properties’ systems so that living conditions remained ideal. The pilot project covered 200 rental properties in Espoo. “Based on the successful pilot, we decided to continue measuring these properties with Digita, and we are also considering increasing the numbers of properties that we monitor,” says Kimmo Rintala, head of VVO Group’s property development unit. “Throughout the pilot, we developed our ability to utilise measurement data in our control systems, and now we are able to utilise it efficiently. We have high expectations regarding the utilisation of this data,” Rintala adds. “We are very satisfied with the fact that we are able to move forward from the successful pilot and enter the production phase with VVO Group. Maintaining optimal living conditions is easy when factors that affect residents’ experiences can be recognised in real time. Continuous measuring also enables the detection of obvious faults in individual apartments even before the residents themselves have time to react to them,” says Digita’s Chief Operating Officer Markus Ala-Hautala. “Digita’s IoT network also responds to the challenges of public buildings. Excessive humidity will be noticed in time, making it possible to avoid damage. By using a real-time picture of the situation provided by sensor data and historical data, we are able to offer services that surpass the expectations of the users of the premises,” Ala-Hautala continues. Nationwide IoT network in autumn 2016 Digita will build a nationwide network enabling Internet of Things (IoT). Already in autumn 2016, the network coverage will be 85% of the population and around 95% of enterprises, the primary target group of the network. Thanks to Digita’s high masts and bidirectoral LoRa technology, diverse connected devices can be controlled easily and cost-efficiently in the network. The technology can be used in a wide range of applications thanks to its affordable price, low power consumption, and excellent range. VVO Group Plc is Finland’s largest private landlord.
