Bitmovin introduceert eerste video-infrastructuur-API voor ontwikkelaars

Deze API koppelt het succesvolle video-encoding en de video player aan een nieuw analyse-instrument voor videoprestaties en laat dit integreren bij verschillende aanbieders van opslag en contentleveringsnetwerken. De term video-infrastructuur verwijst naar alle onderdelen die zijn vereist voor de aanlevering van adaptieve gestreamde video’s in een online-omgeving. De keten begint met een videobestand, die is gecodeerd in een adaptief streamingformat (meestal MPEG-DASH en/of HLS). Daarna wordt het overgebracht naar een vorm van online opslag (AWS S3, FTP, Aspera, etc.) Vanuit dat punt worden de bestanden verspreid via een contentleveringsnetwerk, of CDN (Akamai, Level3, CloudFront, etc.) die de video bij een gebruiker brengt. Deze ziet de video met een adaptieve speler als HTML5 Player. Het laatste puzzelstukje vormen de analysemiddelen die het gedrag van gebruikers in kaart brengen. Bovenop deze infrastructuur komt nog een laag technologieën die vaak nodig zijn. Dit kan versleuteling zijn (voor het behoud van digitale rechten), verwerking van reclame, VR of aansturing voor 360°-video, ondertiteling en veel meer.

The term “video infrastructure” refers to all of the components required to deliver adaptive streaming video in an online environment. The chain begins with a video file, which is encoded into adaptive streaming format (usually MPEG-DASH and/or HLS) and then transferred to some form of online storage (AWS S3, FTP, Aspera, etc.).
