Huawei aangeklaagd wegens inbreuk op AVC-patenten
DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)– MPEG LA, LLC maakt bekend dat bepaalde patenteigenaren die deelnemen aan de AVC Patent Portfolio License van MPEG LA bij het Landgericht Düsseldorf een juridische procedure zijn begonnen tegen Huawei Technologies Deutschland GmbH (Huawei). Ze klagen Huawei aan wegens inbreuk op patenten die essentieel zijn voor de standaard voor digitale videocoding AVC/H.264 (MPEG-4 Part 10). Deze standaard wordt veel toegepast in mobiele apparaten en andere producten.
In de aanklacht staat dat Huawei in Duitsland mobiele telefoons verkoopt die werken met gepatenteerde AVC-methodes, terwijl het bedrijf geen licentie heeft gekregen van individuele patenthouders een portfoliolicentie heeft waarin deze door MPEG LA aangeboden patenten staan. Met de aanklacht willen de patenteigenaren een rechterlijk bevel en een schadevergoeding afdwingen.
