De cijfers van INTERPOL brengen dit probleem duidelijk in beeld: in de database SLTD (Stolen and Lost Travel Documents) staan meer dan 70 miljoen officiële identiteitsbewijzen die zijn gestolen of verloren in meer dan 175 landen. Volgens het Franse Nationale waarnemingscentrum voor Delinquentie en Straf betrof 43 procent van alle documentfraude in 2014 identiteitspapieren. Daarvan is een derde gepleegd op basis van vervalste documenten (geboortecertificaten, verblijfstitels, etc.). Hetzelfde onderzoek onderstreept de impact op andere documenttypes: 26 procent van de fraudegevallen had betrekking op rijbewijzen en autopapieren, 31 procent had te maken met administratieve documenten.

In order to increase official documents security, Arjo Solutions launches DOCS, the first documents security solution using matter biometrics information, based on Signoptic ® technology.
