TOKIO & MÜNCHEN– (BUSINESS WIRE) – Telefónica Duitsland/O₂ en NEC Corporation (NEC; TOKIO: 6701) hebben vandaag aangekondigd dat NEC, in samenwerking met zijn ecosysteem van partners, door Telefónica Duitsland / O₂ is geselecteerd als zijn favoriete full-servicesysteem integrator voor het eerste Open RAN-pilotsysteem in Duitsland. Het systeem heeft al met succes een eerste oproep voltooid via Open RAN op een live O₂  mobiel netwerk in de Beierse stad Landsberg am Lech.

Tijdens de pilot zal NEC helpen bij het definiëren van een op maat gemaakte Open RAN-architectuur, geoptimaliseerd en aangepast aan de vereisten van het mobiele netwerk van Telefónica Duitsland. Als systeemintegrator voor deze pilot coördineert NEC het algehele ontwerp van het Open RAN-systeem en zorgt voor de levering van een solide end-to-end-oplossing. Dit wordt uitgevoerd in samenwerking met marktleiders, waaronder ADVA, Altiostar, GigaTera Communications, Intel, Red Hat, Supermicro en Xilinx.

NEC Selected by Telefónica Germany as System Integrator for First Open RAN Pilot in Germany

TOKYO & MUNICH–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Telefónica Germany / O₂ and NEC Corporation (NEC; TOKYO: 6701) announced today that NEC, working with its ecosystem of partners, has been selected by Telefónica Germany / O₂ as its favored full-service system integrator for the first Open RAN pilot system in Germany. The system has already successfully completed a first call via Open RAN on a live O₂ mobile network in the Bavarian city of Landsberg am Lech.

During the pilot, NEC will help to define a customized Open RAN architecture, optimized and adapted to the requirements of the mobile network of Telefónica Germany. As the system integrator for this pilot, NEC coordinates the overall design of the Open RAN system and ensures the delivery of a solid end-to-end solution. This is being carried out in collaboration with industry leaders that include ADVA, Altiostar, GigaTera Communications, Intel, Red Hat, Supermicro and Xilinx.
