PARIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)– OT-Morpho, a world leader in digital security and identification technologies, announces today that Mobvoi, the leading smart watch and artificial intelligence company, has selected the new version of the PEARL product of OT-Morpho for the new Ticwatch products in the pipeline. This new PEARL, called PEARL Connect, is a first on the market. It combines for the first time capabilities of an embedded Secure Element (eSE), to secure sensitive services, and of an embedded SIM (eSIM), to manage connectivity to cellular network. Already deployed worldwide in more than 250 million smartphones and wearables devices, the different versions of PEARL enable the deployment of contactless services certified by all the major payment schemes worldwide. This unique multi-application platform also supports transit, access control, secure storage use-cases as well as other value added services such as keyless car entry. It also includes high-performance biometric matching algorithms preventing biometric data to be exposed outside of the eSE. PEARL Connect new breakthrough version meets the huge challenge of having two products in only one component, a combination which is unprecedented so far in the security industry. OT-Morpho uses the latest chip technology with the largest memory capability on the market. The key benefit of PEARL Connect for OEMs is to save space, replacing the two chips they currently have in their devices to support both eSE and eSIM functions by a single component. Moreover, having two-in-one also simplifies their supply chain. As with previous PEARL eSE versions, the end-users of a Ticwatch equipped with PEARL Connect will be able to enjoy the convenience of secure NFC services with their watch. In addition, thanks to the eSIM capabilities also supported by PEARL Connect, they will be able to activate a dedicated subscription for their watch, as per the specifications defined by GSMA for remote SIM provisioning in consumer devices. “We have been collaborating with OT-Morpho on both eSE & eSIM for previous Ticwatch versions and are pleased to trust them again for the new products. In the field of smart watches, where the space constraints are so important, being able to benefit from a combined product like the one proposed by OT-Morpho with PEARL Connect is truly revolutionary,” said ZhiFei Li, Founder & CEO of Mobvoi. “OT-Morpho is proud to provide Mobvoi with this world-first product providing security and ease of deployment both for NFC services and also for cellular connectivity. This new version of PEARL is further proof of our capacity to understand the needs of our clients and to fulfill their expectations,” declared said Viken Gazarian, OT-Morpho, Deputy Managing Director of Connected Device Makers business, OT. OT-Morpho is a world leader in digital security & identification technologies with the ambition to empower citizens and consumers alike to interact, pay, connect, commute, travel and even vote in ways that are now possible in a connected world. With close to €3bn in revenues and more than 14,000 employees, OT-Morpho is the result of the merger between OT (Oberthur Technologies) and Safran Identity & Security (Morpho) completed on 31 May 2017. Temporarily designated by the name “OT-Morpho”, the new company will unveil its new name in September of this year.
