LONDEN– (BUSINESS WIRE) – Ilika (AIM: IKA), een pionier op het gebied van solid-state batterijtechnologie, kondigt aan dat het met succes een participatie van £ 15 miljoen heeft afgerond om zijn groeistrategie te ondersteunen.

Ilika is een van de weinige onafhankelijke wereldwijde experts in het ontwerp en de fabricage van solid-state batterijen. Het lanceerde zijn cm-schaal Stereax-technologie voor industriële draadloze sensoren in 2016 en volgde in 2019 met mm-schaal microbatterijen voor miniatuur medische apparaten. In antwoord op de vraag van de auto- en consumentenelektronicasector, met £ 5 miljoen subsidieondersteuning van de Het Faraday Battery Challenge Fund van de Britse regering heeft de productroadmap uitgebreid om grootformaat Goliath-buidelcellen te ontwikkelen.

Ilika produceert momenteel haar Stereax-batterijen op een pilootlijn in Southampton, VK. Het is nu van plan een partnermodel te implementeren met een of meer fabricagefaciliteiten van derden (fabs) om Stereax op schaal te produceren. Deze aandelenplaatsing zal worden gebruikt om productieapparatuur te kopen die Ilika in de door haar geselecteerde fabriek zal installeren, zodat deze op verzoek kan worden bediend. Ilika zal bestellingen van haar klanten blijven ontvangen en, in voorkomend geval, de productie van wafels aan de fab uitbesteden om grotere bestellingen te kunnen uitvoeren.

De kapitaalfinanciering van £ 15 miljoen is verstrekt door een combinatie van bestaande en nieuwe in het VK gevestigde institutionele aandeelhouders.

Ilika Announces £15m Growth Placing to Support Solid-State Battery Commercialisation

LONDON–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Ilika (AIM: IKA), a pioneer in solid-state battery technology, announces that it has successfully completed a £15m equity placing to support its growth strategy.

Ilika is one of the few independent global experts in the design and manufacture of solid-state batteries. It launched its cm-scale Stereax technology for Industrial wireless sensors in 2016 and followed up with mm-scale micro-batteries for miniature medical devices in 2019. In response to demand from the automotive and consumer electronics sectors, with £5m grant support from the UK Government’s Faraday Battery Challenge Fund, it has extended its product roadmap to develop large-format Goliath pouch cells.

Ilika currently produces its Stereax batteries on a pilot line in Southampton, UK. It now intends to implement a partnering model with one or more 3^rd party fabrication facilities (fabs) to produce Stereax at scale. This equity placing will be used to purchase manufacturing equipment which Ilika will install in its selected fab for it to be operated on demand. Ilika will continue to receive orders from its customers and, where appropriate, will outsource wafer production to the fab to allow it to fulfil larger orders.

The £15m equity funding has been provided by a combination of existing and new UK-based institutional shareholders.
